Warming & comforting ・ Calming and nourishing
Ingredients
- 300 ml whole milk
- 3 spoonfuls fermented rice wine (jiuniang / sweet rice ferment)
- 6–8 dried edible rose buds
- 5 g black tea leaves
- 10 g rock sugar
Steps
- Put the black tea leaves, dried roses, and rock sugar into a small pot. Lightly stir-fry over low heat for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Add water and simmer on low heat for 3 minutes to make a strong tea concentrate.
- Pour in the milk and heat until small bubbles appear around the edge of the pot (70–80°C / 158–176°F). Do not boil.
- Add the fermented rice wine and stir well. Simmer on low heat for 30 seconds to 1 minute, then turn off the heat.
- Strain out the tea leaves and garnish with extra rose petals and osmanthus flowers before serving.
Tips
- Do not cook the fermented rice wine for too long, or it may turn sour and lose its aroma.
- Rose and fermented rice wine are believed to help nourish the body, improve circulation, and brighten the complexion.
- Warm milk with fermented rice wine may help relax the nerves and support sleep.
